So, a change of direction but it feels right.
Access to the runway locally is all but closed and therefore the chance to practise with the streamliner to stay upright on 2 wheels without the aid of the stabilisers has been taken away from me. There are few venues in the UK where it is long enough to make practise feasible.
So the plan is this. Add a 3rd wheel, make it a streamliner sidecar and get some records in the book before removing the sidecar and going for broke.
It will be a phased process, so for 2025 we will run with a normally aspirated engine and go for those records, both gas and fuel are around 102mph.
Then in 2026 add back the turbo and go for both the fuel and gas classes with records of around 110mph.
Then 2027 go for broke and the solo streamliner records i have planned to challenge all along.
So i will ship the streamliner to Wally Kohler in New Mexico and he will help me add the sidecar, as he hold the 1300cc sidecar record at 231mph, and modify a trailer so we can move the 16ft bike around both the country and the Bonneville salt flats.
Given the bike has never been run as normally aspirated i need to set the bike up, and so have bought a rolling chassis to fit the engine to so i can take it to a dyno and set it up properly. Bigger carb, and finally get to set up the programmable digital ignition i bought 3 years ago.
Exciting times and feels good to have a plan that will get the bike on the salt, hopefully get some records in the book and real world experience.
